The hotel was nice. We arrived on a Friday evening when there was a huge event taking place at the house. Check-in was quick and easy. Rooms were clean just a bit warm. Fortunately, we had a fan in the room. Beds were very comfy. Dinner at the restaurant was ok, nothing fancy but fine for the price. However, staff is in dire need of training. Not one single waitress/waiter was able to smile. They spoke very fast and slurred and we had to wave them to come back for further orders. When we ordered the bill, something went wrong with the card and they just walked away, mumbling something we could not understand. After 10 minutes they still did not get back to us so we had to catch them at the bar in order to clarify what happened. Turned out the card was declined and they did not make any efforts in letting us know. Which left us with a very strange feeling. Breakfast was the same, staff was not able to smile or at least look friendly. It all felt like it was a shame that they had to work. Not sure what the reason is for that as they treated all guests the same way. The next morning we were sitting in the breakfast area with the sun blinding us so we asked them to pull down the blinds but they told us they were just facade. Breakfast buffet was very poor: Kellogs cereal bags (the small ones) 3 bananas, 2 old apples and some grapes.

We stayed out of Edinburgh as much cheaper than in Edinburgh on a busy weekend - went to watch Harry Styles at Murrayfield! The first night wasn’t great as our room was noisy as the window wouldn’t close and at breakfast lots of items were not topped up. However, the staff moved us the next day and breakfast was much better stocked the next 2 mornings. The staff were so friendly and helpful - particularly Clare and Kayleigh. It was very easy and cheap to get the train into Edinburgh

El hotel en sí es fantástico por el precio. La piscina es fabulosa y no se requiere reserva. Aparcamiento gratuito que también es una ventaja. El desayuno también fue genial. El único inconveniente que diría es que los precios de la comida y la bebida son muy altos en el restaurante y el bar para lo que realmente obtienes. Sin duda me alojaría aquí de nuevo. Where do I begin, Norton House hosted mine and my partners wedding at the end of April and it was the best day of my life! Right from the start of planning, through to the execution of the day, the staff and venue pulled out all the stops to make it the best day ever for everyone involved! We have had nothing but compliments from all our guests over how amazing the staff were, how smoothly the day ran and the venue itself is a beautiful place to get married! The recommended supplier list that comes with planning a wedding here is top notch! Fully recommend Laura for all your planning needs, making sure everything is perfect and organised right up to the day of! Also Victoria for running our day and making sure everything was perfect, and even calming me down right before I walked down the aisle! The rest of the staff on the night were absolutely amazing and I cannot say enough to thank them all for making it the most special and magical day ever! ＜3
