Although the rooms could justify the five stars this hotel claims to have, the service is extremely lacking, and does not justify the prices. They demand a deposit for the plastic keycard in cash only as if you’d steal it upon arrival, and have no sympathy for anyone arriving before 3, flights and transfers be damned. They insultingly accused us of stealing a bathrobe on checkout, and they go check your room while you sit in reception as if on trial. They seem to think theatrically all saying hello in Indonesian every single time you pass through the reception, which you must to enter and exit the premises is all is required for good service. They don’t bother to put towels out at the pool, or tidy after guests leave it, although there are constantly numerous staff at reception seemingly not busy. The restaurant takes 40 plus minutes to make eggs and 20 plus to serve coffee; this was true every day of our 4 days there, they seem to expect you to order a day in advance for breakfast to avoid this as if you wanted a 24 hour smoked brisket or something not eggs. When we checked out they had also organised garbage pickup for the same time as their 12 pm check out time so a gross, disgusting garbage truck blocked the only way in and out, which we had to then squeeze past in the most unpleasant way with suitcases in order to leave, it was thoroughly disgusting, and nearly made us vomit. They have a long way to go and a a lot to learn if they have pretences of competing with actual five star hotels, which their prices imply they do.
