I was in town to take my daughter to freshman orientation at OU; we had traveled several hours and just needed a place to sleep for a few hours before heading to the school. I chose this place because it was cheap, and we only needed a place to sleep and shower. I usually stay in nicer places, but I only needed a six-hour stay. We arrived a little after midnight, and I should have known better; the place is waaaaaay out on the outskirts of town, and it’s obvious this place caters to a clientele who lives on the fringes of society. Check-in went well, got to the room and pretty much went straight to bed. Got up at 5:45am, and the shower drain was extremely slow to drain; the water was past my ankles after a few minutes (yes, I made sure the plug was not engaged). By 6:30, we were getting ready to leave and I noticed that there was blood spatter all over the wall around the light switch, including a bloody fingerprint on the light switch. Makes me wonder what was in that shower drain, but nonetheless, something terrible happened in that room. I felt the need to notify the front desk as I was checking out, and they seemed indifferent, and were only interested in what room I had stayed. No recompense was made, no apology. I should have known, and should not have chosen a cheap hotel if I didn’t want to be exposed to blood borne pathogens and sleep in a crime scene.
