I dined here with my husband and aunt for Sunday lunch. Upon arriving, we were wowed by the venue itself, set in beautiful countryside with a river, plenty of parking and outdoor seating. You enter through an impressive glass, apex roofed entrance and are greeted by a friendly team member who seated us in one of the many unique dining areas. The décor is country chic, seamlessly blending tradition with modernity. Our drinks orders were promptly taken and the server was very pleasant. We order two white wine spritzers and a beer, with a bottle of water for the table. The menu is diverse, different and has something for everyone from fish lovers to vegan. For starters, I had the crab, my husband had the poached salmon Caesar, and my aunt had the fried brie. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the crab as there wasn't a huge amount on the plate, and I found some shell. However, both the other starters were highly praised, especially the chutney that came with the brie, and the generous helping of salmon. The atmosphere was comfortable with a the hum of chitter chat in the background but not overly noisy so you could easily chat with one another. The server left a sufficient amount of time before bringing the mains, and was attentive in asking whether we wanted any more drinks or accompaniments. For main, I had the sticky beef salad, and the others had a beef roast. I was very impressed with my main, there was plenty of food, the chilli sauce was not too spicy, and the salad was fresh. The roast was also complimented both on the portion size, cooking of the beef, and the trimmings. Once again, nothing was too much trouble as our server was kind enough to bring additional gravy. To finish, I had the Pimm's jelly, my husband the chocolate brownie, and my aunt the peach and raspberry sundae. The dessert was my favourite course, the champagne sorbet complimented the Pimm's jelly perfectly and it was ideal for a hot Summer's day. I'm told the brownie was rich and decadent, and the sundae was fresh and tasty, but could have done with more meringue. We finished with coffees which were served with a mini flapjack, which I thought was a nice touch. We asked for the bill and for 3x three courses, including wines, beers, and coffees, it only came to £148 and was worth every penny. I've been very impressed and look forward to returning in the near future.
