Found Hotel Mont-Brison while looking a place to stop during a road trip, and it positively surprised us despite having already good reviews. The room was a bit on the smaller side, but on the other hand it looked to have been renovated recently and everything was clean and tidy. Bathroom was another positive surprise, and especially as the shower was great, good water pressure and didn't have to wait for hot water. Bed was comfortable as well and gave a good nights sleep. View from the balcony was great, watching towards the mountains over the town. Only minor complaint would be on the staff being a bit pushy and giving an intrusive look of themselves. When arriving to the parking, we got pounced immediately before getting of the bike. Same happened on the same evening when getting some left behind items from the bike.

La mejor manera de describir este hotel es que es moderno, limpio, sobre el estándar de un Travel Inn en el Reino Unido, pero sólo demasiado pequeño para el número de huéspedes. La habitación es muy agradable, pero no es muy agradable. El restaurante es demasiado pequeño y en tiempos ocupados puede que tenga que esperar una mesa, pero la comida es OK, esp los principiantes/saladas y desiertos (pero permite 5/10 minutos en la mañana para coger café/té porque las máquinas son terriblemente lentas). Una característica muy buena es que si no va a estar en el almuerzo, puede hacer un ”paquete” para llevarlo con usted - incluso proporcionan contenedores para ponerlo. La zona llamada spa es demasiado pequeña, la piscina es de aproximadamente 12 pies X 20 pies y la pequeña sauna debe ser reservada bien a priori (y es la extensión del spa!). Si te gusta el café/té en tu habitación, toma tu propia cafetería como la ”cosa” en la habitación es prácticamente inútil. . El hotel está a 5 minutos a pie de gondola y vale la pena dejar su kit de esquí en una tienda de gondola por 2 euros al día. El almacenamiento de esquí en el hotel es OK - una habitación separada en cada piso para esto. Las primeras impresiones de la ciudad es que no hay mucho para El hotel está situado en una zona de montaña, donde se encuentra un buzón regular (aproximadamente cada 15 minutos) que conecta todas las zonas de esquí (2 euros por viaje o 3 euros por día). Se puede capturar a través de la carretera desde la gondola.

We were only here for an overnight stop but what a little gem both the old town and this hotel proved to be. As the “highest town in France” Briancon commands beautiful and dramatic views of the surrounding mountains, together with the rather neglected and un-visited C17 fortifications built to keep the raiding Savoyards at bay. The streets are also attractive with an array of restaurants and tourist shops (not too tacky). The auberge has the advantage of being within the walls of the old town. Recently refurbished, the hotel retains its’ very cosy, somewhat old-fashioned but charming atmosphere. There is no lift, just broad, carpeted stairways to the upper floors and rooms. It is quite charming. Our room was on an upper floor, and although a tad small with only one window, had a large bathroom with a roomy shower. The staff are helpful and very friendly. Breakfast was good, with a very useful egg boiler contraption which produced lovely soft eggs. The best thing about the auberge however was their restaurant. We were there on a Friday night and it seemed to be the ‘hottest place in town’, absolutely packed. The food was of good quality and definitely did not break the bank.
